Ray Chelstowski Replaces Departing Tim Castelli as Publisher

NEW YORK ( -- Wenner Media's Rolling Stone has moved quickly to fill its publisher spot, which Tim Castelli resigned on Monday to join Google, by promoting Ray Chelstowski from associate publisher.

Mr. Chelstowski, who joined the magazine last year, already did a stint as acting publisher in between the brief tenures of Steve DeLuca and Mr. Castelli. He has previously held various posts, including national sales director at Entertainment Weekly.

'Guide our success'
"Ray's energy and dedication to Rolling Stone has been a great asset for the past year-and-a-half," said Gary Armstrong, chief marketing officer at Wenner Media. "He is a seasoned professional whose long heritage in the magazine industry will continue to guide our success."

Ad pages at Rolling Stone held flat in the first half of the year, compared with first-half 2006, and fell 7% in full-year 2006, according to the Publishers Information Bureau.
