NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Which print ads in the weekly news magazines performed best in the past year? MRI Starch Communications, a specialist in print-advertising research, has developed an "engagement score" to help identify the best-performing print ads out there. The score combines the percentage of readers who noticed a given ad and the percentage who read at least half of it.
|The Best Ads in Weekly News Magazines|
For this look at the best ads in weekly news magazines, MRI Starch considered 362 one-page and two-page ads that appeared in 19 weekly news magazine issues from January 2008 to January 2009. All selected ads were thoroughly read by more than half of those who initially noticed the ad.
See what marketers such as Target, Marriott and Ralph Lauren did to get people to pay attention to their ads. The best ads caught reader attention with simple design, thought-provoking content and vivid color.
