Disney’s ad sales unit created a new multicultural solutions division as it works to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion are part of day-to-day conversations with brands and agencies.
Christina Carey Dunleavy will lead the organization and serve as VP, commercial operations, Disney CreativeWorks and multicultural. Prior to joining Disney, Dunleavy served as VP, portfolio integrated marketing and partnerships at Discovery.
Ray Warren also joins the organization from LinkedIn as director, multicultural solutions, and will report to Dunleavy.
This comes as brands and agencies take a hard look at their advertising spend and undertake initiatives to ensure not only that their creative is authentic, but also where they are allocating dollars is representative of their consumer base.
The new multicultural solutions division is part of a larger ad sales organization announcement that includes Adam Monaco—previously senior VP of sales—being named exec VP, Disney Advertising Sales. In the role he will lead category, agency, local and political sales for Disney’s news, sports and kids linear and digital TV ad-supporting businesses. Monaco reports to Rita Ferro, president of ad sales.
Reporting to Monaco, Jennifer Donohue has been elevated to senior VP, local, and Becca Vodnoy has been elevated to senior vice president, sales.
As Disney looks to build for a future in which a large portion of ad revenue comes from addressable advertising, Lauren Benedict is being elevated to senior VP, addressable sales, and Danielle Brown has been named senior VP, data enablement and category strategy, overseeing Disney’s data and targeting solutions. They will both report to Lisa Valentino, exec VP, client solutions and addressable enablement.
