Meredith, Comcast to Launch Parents TV
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Meredith Corp. continues its push into video with the December introduction of Parents TV, an on-demand channel to be carried by Comcast and stocked with content adapted from or inspired by Meredith's Parents, Family Circle and American Baby brands. Its programming, to be created by Meredith Video Solutions, will be underwritten by sponsors such as Huggies and the Discover card.
Like Better.TV, the Better Homes and Gardens video site that Meredith introduced last April, Parents TV will be organized into categories of clips, in this case including pregnancy basics, baby and toddler, healthy kids, "it" moms, family life, doc talk and top videos. Consumers will be able to find the videos at parents.tv and parents.com, which are already live.
'On their own schedules'
"We will provide consumers with the information they need via outstanding broadcast quality video, and Comcast's On Demand platform enables viewers to access these videos on their own schedules," Paul Karpowicz, president of Meredith Broadcasting Group, said in a statement.
Comcast said the latest addition to its on-demand lineup represented another step in its march to provide subscribers with more options and flexibility. "This is another example of how we are working with top-tier, recognizable brands to develop original, nonlinear, advertising-supported programming," said Matt Strauss, senior VP-new media at Comcast.
