24/7 media to rep French portal

LONDON--U.S.-owned Internet advertising sales company 24/7 Media Europe has been named by France Telecom to represent the French group's Voila portal sites.

Following the success of Voila.fr, which six months after launch delivers 35 million monthly impressions, France Telecom is establishing local Voila portals in six additional languages. Under the new agreement, 24/7 Media Europe will provide global sales representation for all Voila portals outside France.

The portals include separate sites in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish and English. The portals provide Internet users with a means to search either local language sites or on the World Wide Web.

24/7 Media Europe launched on Jan. 20 after U.S.-based 24/7 Media bought a controlling stake in London-based InterAd Holdings, a leading European ad sales representative group. It will offer banner campaigns, online sponsorships, e-commerce and direct marketing opportunities across the Voila sites, through its network of 13 offices in 12 countries.

Gordon Simpson, 24/7 Media Europe CEO, says: "24/7 Media Europe is currently developing the first pan-European sites network and the Voila portals are exactly the type of quality sites, with strong appeal to international advertisers, we are looking to incorporate. The mix of focused local content under a strong brand has proved to be compelling both for advertisers and users."
