Advertising Age, Interactive Insights and the Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University this week will present the first Midwest Interactive Conference.

The conference will be held Nov. 10 at Chicago's Drake Hotel. Tribune Co. is a sponsor.

The conference is designed to provide an overview of current and future interactive communication technologies. Topics include the changing role of advertising agencies, the challenges of marketing through interactive media and the status of interactive TV development.

Keynote speaker is Roger Schank, director of the Institute for the Learning Sciences. Christie Hefner, chairman-ceo of Playboy Enterprises, will deliver the luncheon address.

"Marketers need hands-on information on interactive media and marketing. That's why we're proud to be involved with the Midwest Interactive Conference," said Ed Erhardt, VP-publisher of Advertising Age.

For Tribune Co., the conference is a way to bring various marketer, media and technology interests together on a common ground.

"We're looking forward to participating in a robust discussion among business people from the Midwest about the actual business of interactive media," said Gene Quinn, general manager of Tribune Interactive Network Services and a conference speaker.
