Ameritech Corp.'s SecurityLink division to Lowe Direct, a unit of Lowe & Partners/SMS, New York. DDB Needham Worldwide, Chicago, formerly handled. Lowe next January will break a national direct response multimedia campaign to promote SecurityLink, a subsidiary of Ameritech that markets residential and commercial security systems.

Wrangler's Brussels-based European operation has picked Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, London, for its $25 million account, from TBWA, Brussels. Media planning and buying across Europe remain with the recently appointed CIA Medianetwork.

The U.S. account of Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Sprungli to Gearon Hoffman, Boston, from freelance, following a review. Lindt is considering expanding its retail concept nationally, which may boost billings to the $4 million range.

General Motors Corp. has named four German agencies to pitch for the $20 million to $25 million account to advertise its U.S. car models in Europe. They are Frankfurt-based Lowe & Partners, which handles advertising for the German GM Opel subsidiary; DMB&B, Frankfurt, which works for GM in the U.S.; plus incumbents Buehler, Flettner & Partner, Frankfurt, and McCann-Erickson, Frankfurt and Zurich. GM's U.S. models sold in Europe are the Chevrolet, Cadillac and Pontiac Firebird and Transporter. A decision is expected this month.
