Adidas promotes Stamminger to global marketing chief

LONDON--Adidas-Salomon has promoted Erich Stamminger to head of global marketing.

Mr. Stamminger, 42, takes over from Jan Valdmaa, 44, who is leaving the post he has held since 1994. Mr. Valdmaa's reasons for leaving were not disclosed.

Mr. Stamminger, a member of the adidas board, was previously joint head of marketing for Europe and Asia. He joined the company in 1983, assuming responsibility for Region Europe in 1995 alongside Herbert Hainer. Mr. Hainer will take over sole responsibility for Europe and Asia-Pacific.

As part of the board reshuffle, Steve Wynne, president-CEO of adidas America, has decided to leave the company. A successor is still to beappointed.
