Advertising Age International has selected a record 10 finalists for its International Agency of the Year award for 1995.

Young & Rubicam and Bates Worldwide each have two finalists: Advico Young & Rubicam, the Zurich agency famous for its soccer-playing cow ads; Young & Rubicam, Sydney; Delvico/Bates, Barcelona, winner of most of the top European creative awards last year; and Bates Hong Kong.

Four of the finalists chosen out of 60 entries from 25 countries are based in the U.K. The London agencies of J. Walter Thompson Co., McCann-Erickson Worldwide, and TBWA are all contenders, as well as BMP DDB Needham, a past International Agency of the Year winner.

The other two finalists are Canada's largest ad agency, BBDO Canada, Toronto; and Ogilvy & Mather Rightford Searle-Tripp & Makin, Johannesburg, South Africa's No. 1 agency.

AAI judges entries on creative merit, without regard to an agency's size, client list or other factors. Judges consider TV, cinema, newspaper, magazine and outdoor campaigns.

Last year's winner was Abbott Mead Vickers/BBDO, London.

The 1995 winner will be announced and profiled in weekly Advertising Age's annual Agency Report, to appear April 15.

In the May issue of Ad Age International, regional rankings by gross income of the top international networks in Europe, Asia and Latin America will be published.
