Marlene Coulis Takes Post as Bob Lachky Gets New Role at Brewer

CHICAGO ( -- Faced with disappointing financial performance and weak beer sales, Anheuser-Busch is replacing its longtime top marketing executive with a company insider.

Bob Lachky, who has been vice president of brand management since 1997, is being promoted to the newly created post of executive vice president of global industry development. In that post he’s charged with representing the brewery at industry groups and work to improve beer’s image.

He’s being succeeded as vice president of brand management by Marlene Coulis, a 13-year company veteran whose last post was vice president of marketing planning and research and customer satisfaction. She previously oversaw new product development.

“She brings with her not only an extensive background in consumer research and brand marketing, but a decidedly new perspective on connecting with today's contemporary adult consumer," August Busch IV, president of the U.S. brewery, said in a release.
