AOL, CUC in deal

America Online and CUC International signed a three-year $50 million deal in which CUC International will provide shopping, travel and other online resources to AOL's 8 million users and link its Web-based NetMarket shopping service to AOL.

Under the deal, AOL will get transaction royalties for purchases from CUC and will provide CUC with prime positioning within its Shopping Channel and elsewhere on AOL's network. AOL users will also get discounts on purchases from CUC virtual stores.

Also, AOL will promote many of the shopping advantages the CUC alliance brings its service through direct mail and telemarketing; CUC will promote the AOL alliance to its shoppers.
