AOL, DME Interactive, plan spring launch of 'Places of Color' online service

America Online is partnering with DME Interactive Holdings, New York, to launch a co-branded, urban-oriented online service. The Places of Color service, using a customized version of CompuServe 2000, is geared to minority communities. The service will be priced at $19.95 per month. DME Interactive, which is handling all marketing and advertising for the co-branded ISP, will distribute customized content through about 150 affiliate relationships with content providers. As part of the deal, AOL will take a minority stake in DME.
