America Online and discount retailer Target Stores announced a strategic alliance under which Target will become one of AOL's premier retail partners, with Target's merchandise available in the [email protected]
online shopping area and across AOL brands including AOL.com, CompuServe, Netscape Netcenter and AOL Digital City. The placements will introduce users to target.com. In addition, the companies will develop a special, co-branded edition of the AOL service that will include new offers and prominent links to target.com. Exclusive benefits will be available to Target/AOL members who subscribe to the service through Target; members will be able to use their Target Guest Card as a payment option. The Target/AOL alliance will be promoted through marketing channels including Target stores, Target's Sunday circular, broadcast and print ads, and promotion of Target across AOL brands.
