Asia-Pacific home shopping service to launch

SYDNEY--TVSN (TV Shopping Network) is launching a 24-hour satellite-based home shopping service throughout Asia The three satellites have a combined footprint spanning 100 countries, but TVSN will concentrate initially on 70 million Asian households that have access to either a satellite dish or cable TV.

The service will market items proven successful on other home shopping channels, such as jewelry. TVSN, formerly known as TVN (The Value Network), has been acquired by two Singapore-based companies, Prudential Asset Management of Asia and The Search Group. Eve Skinner, national retail manager of Austrade, Australia's Federal overseas marketing body, has been seconded to study how to test market goods and services to gauge their potential in various Asian markets.
