'Asiaweek' appoints regional ad director

HONG KONG--Time Inc.'s Asiaweek has promoted Rik Gates in Singapore from advertising manager to regional advertising director, responsible for Southeast Asia, to succeed Randy Maxwell, who left Time last March. Mr. Gates moved to Time Inc.'s Asian operation in 1996 from the U.K., where he was international sales manager for Time magazine, based in London.
