Bates Asia beefs up regional team

HONG KONG--Ayesha Walawalker has joined Bates Advertising in Hong Kong as regional director of strategic planning, from BBDO's former Asia Pacific regional consultancy, The Hub.

At The Hub, closed down by BBDO last year, Ms. Walawalker was responsible for strategic planning on major regional accounts. Previously, she worked in London, including stints at Still, Price Lintas, and Chiat/Day before becoming a board director at AMV/BBDO in 1994, where she was a planning director for Pepsico, Bayer and ICI Dulux.

Aris Theophilakis, meanwhile, has joined Bates Advertising in Singapore as regional creative director, a new position for the network in Asia, created by Bates Regional President Jeffrey Yu, primarily to handle the network's regional business for Nokia, Heineken and HSBC.

The 33-year-old Norwegian native previously managed the creative department at Bates Oslo for three years and is one of the network's youngest creative stars.
