(May 25, 2001) SINGAPORE -- BBC World has appointed One Four One and Zenith Media as its advertising and media agencies for this region.

Handling communication programs for both consumer and trade campaigns, Publicis Groupe's sister companies One Four One and Zenith will be working closely with BBC World Asia, based in Singapore, and BBC World's London office. Details of competing agencies, incumbents and budget were not disclosed.

Rajat Mittra, marketing manager BBC World Asia said, "BBC World was looking for agencies which had a good regional presence to help execute both above- and below-the-line marketing plans, and which had an understanding of the cable and satellite TV market in the region."

Anthony Pounds, managing Director of One Four One Singapore, said BBC World is the fourth major TV channel to appoint the agency. "One Four One's first ever client in Singapore was a cable satellite channel, and over the last four years we have had extensive experience in this area, working with Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and ESPN Star Sports. We look forward to using this experience to deliver effective through-the-line communications for BBC World."

Jacky Brandreth, director of marketing for BBC World, added, "Asia is one of our key markets and as such, it is important that we work with agencies that have the right background and experience." -- Magz Osborne
