Incumbent agency of record Menzel Nolte Hamburg in April gave notice of its resignation of the business when the contract expires at the end of this year. The agency and client differed over strategy.
BBDO and ServicePlan Munich were involved in the pitch, as was thought to be Grey. BMW says, however, that it will continue to work with ServicePlan, Hiel/BBDO and Sportive, all of Munich, for trade marketing.
BMW spent $81m last year, but that tally included motor-cycle and dealer ads. BBDO Duesseldorf still handles BMW's literature account. Media is split between Mediacom for TV and ServicePlan's media arm for print.
