Brazilian retailer launches portal for housewives

SAO PAULO--Pao de Acucar Group, the retailer now partly owned byFrench group Casino, is launching a Web site that promises to help housewives find plumbers and online retailers via the Internet. -- Amelia is a pejorative name in Brazil for a housewife -- also contains health and entertainment information. The Web site will launch in April with a marketing budget of around $1.8 million. A campaign, including TV, print, outdoor and radio ads, plus heavy Web advertising, will run through Age, Sao Paulo.
