Interpublic Group of Cos.' Campbell Mithun, is acquiring sister agency Phillips Ramsey, San Diego. As part of the move, Campbell Mithun's Irvine, Calif., office will be merged into the combined $130 million unit under the Campbell Mithun moniker.

"Phillips Ramsey enjoys a reputation for top-quality clients, strategically driven creative and integrated marketing communications," Les Mouser, president-CEO of Campbell Mithun, said in a statement.

Phillips Ramsey has 50 employees, and its clients including WD-40 Co., the San Diego Zoo, Omni Hotels and Bumble Bee Seafoods.

Gary Meads, executive vice president and general manager of Phillips Ramsey, will become executive vice president, managing director, of the new unit. Julie Ward will continue as senior vice president, managing director, of Campbell Mithun's Irvine office and will assist in the development of the San Diego operation.

This is the first of several planned growth efforts since Mr. Mouser was elevated to the post of president-CEO in February. The agency added Pedersen Gesk package design in 2000, Hispanic advertising unit Casanova Pendrill Publicidad in 1999, and in 1996 a Campbell Mithun creative operation in New York.
