Ameritech Corp. chose the Chicago office of Carat
/ICG, Los Angeles, as agency of record for its $100 million media-only account. Ameritech made news during the review when it said that it would allow an agency's or media independent's sister shop to be a media AOR for a competing telecommunications company. Carat/MBS, New York, handles the spot TV account for category giant MCI Telecommunications Corp. Carat/ICG claims billings of $550 million with clients such as Hardee's Food Systems and Borders Books & Music.
