CMPnet uses poll banners with launch

As part of an ad campaign to promote the launch of its new umbrella site CMPnet, CMP Media next week will place poll banners on Yahoo!, Excite, Infoseek, Geocities and other sites to drive users to CMPnet, say agencies involved with the campaign.

One of the interactive banners, developed by interactive shop IN2 in conjunction with Cone Interactive, asks Web surfers the question: "Who would you most like to eat dinner with: Bill Gates, Steve Case, Steve Jobs or Dilbert?" After voting, users will be linked to the CMPnet site, where results of the poll will be tabulated and displayed in real time.

"First impressions are so important, especially at the launch of a site," said James Healy, president and CEO of IN2. "If you can use some humor and make people laugh, you can set a lasting impression of the site."
