Headed North American Marketing for All Full-Calorie Products

CHICAGO ( -- Randy Ransom, the executive in charge of North American marketing for all full-calorie Coca-Cola products, is leaving the company to "pursue other interests," according to an internal memo circulated in the company yesterday.

Mr. Ransom held the official title of senior vice president of Coca-Cola trademark. He answered to John Hackett, the senior vice president of Coca-Cola North America's marketing unit. Mr. Hackett wrote the memo announcing his departure.

Mr. Ransom was not available for comment. The exact date of his departure is unknown. His marketing duties included Coca-Cola Classic, Coca-Cola With Lime and Cherry Coke.

He is credited with launching Coca-Cola with Lime and evolving the Coca-Cola Classic advertising campaign from "Real" to "Make It Real.”

The internal memo indicated that the unit headed by Mr. Ransom will be combined with the North American diet beverage unit; the new entity will be headed by Katie Bayne, formerly senior vice president of integrated marketing and a 16-year Coca-Cola veteran. Her integrated marketing successor will be named later.

Portfolio Strategies Group
Simultaneously, Dan Dillon, vice president of the diet portfolio, will take over the Portfolio Strategies Group, managing Hispanic marketing, carbonated soft-drink packaging, healthy living and revenue management issues.

Also, the marketing duties for the non-Coca-Cola trademark beverages, such as Sprite and Fresca, which were with Mr. Dillon's diet unit, will now be combined with the Sprite/Flavors unit under Alison Lewis, vice president of marketing for Sprite and flavors.
