Coke marketing post to Bishop

Nick Bishop, 38, was named VP-consumer connections at Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, from exec VP-managing director of Interpublic Group Cos.' McCann-Erickson/A&L, San Francisco. Starting Oct. 1, Mr. Bishop will report to Steve Jones, chief marketing officer in Coca-Cola's corporate marketing division. Mr. Bishop succeeds Martin Quinn, who has led the consumer communications function since the surprise April departure of Ian Rowden, VP-consumer communications. Mr. Quinn is now director-global brand communications, reporting to Mr. Bishop. The position is of a more advisory and strategic nature than the prior post, consistent with Coca-Cola's "Think local, act local" credo under CEO Doug Daft, Mr. Bishop said. He will concentrate on developing an overall creative strategy to enable connecting better with consumers and advising local marketing teams in creating strategies and integrated marketing communications content through advertising, Internet communications, interactive TV, gaming and wireless technology.
