BOSTON-Cone Communications, named one of INSIDE PR's 10 "hottest" agencies since 1989, has changed its name to Cone/Coughlin Com-munications as President and partner Margaret Coughlin has increased her equity share.

Ms. Coughlin, 38, joined the business specializing in marketing strategy, corporate positioning, product launches and public relations two years ago from Ingalls, Quinn & Johnson, where she was senior VP-director of business development.

"Her classic background in marketing and my public relations experience combine to create innovative programs for companies that want to `move the needle,'*" said Carol Cone, ceo of the shop founded in 1980. "As a partner, Coughlin has played an integral role in our incredible growth over the past few years, and I am proud to have her name on the door."

Ms. Cone, 48, still remains the majority partner in the agency, whose billings topped $4 million in 1993.

The shop counts Black & Decker Corp., FTD/Florists' Trans-world Delivery Association and Hasbro toys among its clients. It's currently working with Houston, Effler & Partners on the Massachusetts Department of Public Health anti-smoking campaign.
