Crain buys Mexican publications

Crain Communications, parent company of Advertising Age, announced today the purchase of three business publications in Mexico. The deal marks the company's first foray into Latin America. The weekly El Asesor de Mexico and biweekly El Asesor de Monterrey are regional business publications and the bimonthly Internet Velocidad covers Mexico's Internet industry. The titles will be Crain's first that are not written in English. Joe Cappo, Crain's senior VP-international, will be president of Crain's Mexican titles, and Gerald Delaney will continue to be director of the publications and report to Mr. Cappo. Crain, a privately held company, is run by the sons of its founder, G.D. Crain, and currently publishes more than 30 business publications and operates more than two dozen Web sites and two radio stations located in the Florida Keys.
