[Seoul] Joe Cappo, senior VP-international of Crain Communications Inc. and publishing director of Advertising Age and Advertising Age International, was elected senior VP of the International Advertising Association.

Mr. Cappo will serve as president-elect for two years and will be named president in 1998 at the next World Advertising Congress in Cairo.

The election took place at the IAA's biennial meeting held in conjunction with the 35th World Advertising Congress earlier this month.

The current president is Senyon Kim, chairman-CEO of Sonyon Communications and Sonyon- Leo Burnett Korea

"I look forward to working with President Kim in continuing the growth in size and influence of the IAA around the world," Mr. Cappo said.

He has served as an IAA board director since 1994.

In his position at Crain, Mr. Cappo manages international activities for the company, including licensing of editorial material from its 27 publications. The company has 18 licensees in South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Mr. Cappo also heads up the company's licensing efforts with electronic databases and information products.
