Ms. Fuhrhop fills a position left vacant for some months following the departure in early July of previous chairman Klaus Flettner. Mr. Flettner and Chief Creative Officer Paul Steentjes, 48, failed to agree on many issues. Mr. Steentjes will now share the chairmanship with Ms. Fuhrhop.
Ms. Fuhrhop joins from BBDO, Duesseldorf, where she has worked since 1989 as an account director and, most recently, as partner and managing director for international clients such as Henkel, Mars, Pepsi, Wrigley and Wella.
DDB's Regional Manager Northern Europe Lucas Mees has been working in the Duesseldorf office for the past few months; he will advise Ms. Fuhrhop in the first few months of her DDB career to ensure a smooth transition.
