Mr. Barnhart's former agency, 25-year-old Barnhart Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations, closed in February, and CMI CEO Cheryl Akright approached him about buying CMI.
CMI had $2.65 million in gross billings, considerably smaller than Barnhart Advertising, with $32 million in gross annualized billings; but Mr. Barnhart said he prefers a smaller shop because it allows more hands-on work.
Mr. Barnhardt said CMI was a high-tech, business-to-business agency, noting its top clients included computer reseller Intelligent Electronics and Neodata, a subscription fulfillment house, both now at Barnhardt-CMI LLC.
The agency, with 14 employees, is at 2401 15th St., Suite 260, Denver, Colo. 80202. Phone: (303) 477-3774.
