Discovery Channel expands in Israel

TEL AVIV -- Discovery Channel, the U.S.-based nonfiction entertainment channel, will launch a 24hour network in Israel offering its mix of nature and history programs. Discovery Channel has been available in Israel as a four-hour branded block of Discovery Channel programming each day on Tevel's Channel 8.

Israel-based consultant Aver Zussman will assist Discovery Channel set up a 24-hour service. Mr. Zussman, founder of Direct Satellite Television (DST), will assist with launch and promotional activities as well as distributor negotiations. DST has been actively involved in the cable TV industry since 1982, working in various capacities for CNN and Turner International, Eurosport, Prime Sport, EBN, PreVue Networks and Warner Digital Music.
