NEW YORK-Longtime Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising executive Michael D. Donahue, 54, has been named senior VP-member services at the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

He was exec VP-executive management director at Saatchi's New York office.

Mr. Donahue's appointment to the new post is the first announced by new Four A's President O. Burtch Drake, who previously worked with Mr. Donahue at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, which became part of Saatchi.

Mr. Donahue will assume many of the duties Mr. Drake handled as exec VP-chief operating officer before he was named Four A's president.

NEW YORK-Wilma Epstein has been promoted to senior VP-global media director at Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide.

Ms. Epstein, 47, previously was senior VP-media director. Now, she will oversee O&M's new Global Media Group, a dedicated O&M client resource.

New York office President Shelly Lazarus said 40% of the world's multinational companies are located in the U.S., and Ms. Epstein, with her previous work on global brands like American Express Co. and AT&T, is "uniquely qualified to lead this new initiative."

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Bruce W. Mainzer, 41, has joined Norwegian Cruise Line as VP-marketing, filling a vacant post.

Mr. Mainzer was director of market research and development at United Airlines, Elk Grove Village, Ill.

In his new post, he joins with former boss Adam M. Aron, who left United as senior VP-marketing to became president-ceo of Kloster Cruise. in July. Kloster is Norwegian's parent company.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-John J. Powers, 81, who retired as chairman-ceo of Pfizer in December 1972, died April 12 of cancer at Good Samaritan Medical Center here.

Mr. Powers was a central figure in Pfizer's expansion from a small specialty chemical house to a highly diversified worldwide pharmaceutical giant.
