24 Hour Fitness signed on as title sponsor of the sixth annual Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, slated for Aug. 18 in San Francisco. The fitness chain is the event's first title sponsor since 1992. Other sponsors include Hyde Athletic Industries' Saucony, Sony Corp. of America, Bombardier's Sea-Doo and Power Foods' PowerBar.

Harlem Globetrotters inked a global marketing partnership with Reebok International to showcase its footwear and apparel; the sponsorship starts this summer with the Globetrotters' first-ever South Africa tour.

Gillette Co. and HBO Home Video co-promote children's home video "The Neverending Story: The Animated Adventures of Bastian Balthazar Bux," available Sept. 3. Inside videocassettes will be coupons for Gillette products worth up to $13.

NFL Properties continues its "Play Football" push with an August sweepstakes promotion with Fox, supported by media in Sports Illustrated for Kids, that gives the winner and 19 friends the chance to play a flag football game with NFL players; and an Aug. 1 promotion with J.C. Penney Co. for "Football America," an entertainment initiative that includes a movie that will air Oct. 18 on Turner Network Television and a book arriving at the same time.
