Allied Domecq Spirits USA has tapped BBDO, Chicago, to handle the $10 million-plus account for Beefeater gin, previously handled by Mezzina/Brown, New York, which resigned the account. Other agencies pitching were Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, and five New York agencies: Bates USA, Cliff Freeman & Partners, Devito/Verdi, Lois/EJL and Weiss Stagliano Partners.
Rich LeFurgy, chairman of the Internet Advertising Bureau, has been hired as a consultant to online ad management company AdKnowledge. Mr. LeFurgy was previously senior VP-advertising, Buena Vista Internet Group.
