The appointment follows a five-way pitch, including the Paris-based shops of Bates Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, Young & Rubicam and the incumbent, Havas Advertising-owned Euro RSCG Works.
With more than 300,000 members and 600,000 monthly visitors, Multimania ranks fourth in France's main monthly Internet audience rating service. The company, which describes itself as the largest French-speaking community on the Internet, raised just over $50 million with an IPO on the Paris Bourse, or stock exchange, in early March.
A campaign will break by late April, according to agency sources.
