Ford tests online ordering in Canada

Published on .

Ford Motor Co. is testing in two Canadian markets its first-in-the-world online system that allows consumers to order cars direct from the manufacturer. The pilot project is in Ontario's Hamilton-Niagara market and the Ottawa-Carleton area. The so-called BuyerConnection initially will offer only Ford's Focus, Taurus and Windstar vehicles. Buyers can log onto its site to get an e-price and find out if a dealer has the vehicle they want or, if not, order it directly from Ford.
