Fredericksen Television entered an exclusive marketing partnership with fitness expert Denise Austin. Fredericksen will develop direct response TV advertising for Ms. Austin's fitness show, "Denise Austin's Daily Workout," on the Lifetime cable channel, as well as manage her online store on Lifetime's Web site (

Knowledgebase Marketing, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Prime Response, Denver, announced a partnership combining their database marketing expertise. Knowledgebase recently ended its short-lived database alliance with American Express Card Related Services.

Online consumers are no easy sell for telemarketers, indicates research from Yankelovich Monitor. Seven in 10 online consumers claim they never accept telemarketers' cold-calling and they throw out most "junk mail," Yankelovich said. However, 76% said they are willing to share information about themselves such as hobbies and interests, demographic data, and their names in order to get a more customized products or services in return.

Jennifer Vale, 34, was named to the new post of senior VP-direct marketing at the Advertising Council. She previously was VP at Grey Direct, a division of Grey Advertising, New York. Ms. Vale will lead the Ad Council's direct response initiatives, including refining the council's database.
