Gap shifts marketing

The Gap, San Francisco, is overhauling its marketing image with the addition of a new marketing director, Michael McCadden, former Calvin Klein cologne global advertising director. He replaces Maggie Gross, who left in April. Also leaving the Gap's in-house ad agency is eight-year veteran Timothy Cohrs, who was named VP-executive creative director at Lai, Venuti & Lai Advertising, Santa Clara, Calif., a Silicon Valley high tech-shop.

At the same time, the Gap's Banana Republic division has parted with its agency, the Arnell Group, New York, and is said to be looking for a new agency. Richard Crisman, who took over as director of marketing for the Gap since Ms. Gross' departure, will remain director of marketing and public relations for the Gap's discount Old Navy Clothing Co. division.
