Gateway drops '2000', debuts ads

Gateway 2000, refreshing its brand image, said it shortened its name to Gateway and introduced a new logo featuring a hand-drawn version of its signature cow-spot box. Gateway concluded the "2000" would become dated in the new millennium. The North Sioux City, S.D., PC maker said its first campaign from new agency McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, breaks today. A TV commercial airing on network TV and national spot cable TV shows Gateway employees helping customers. The new tag is, "Let's talk about your Gateway." McCann won the estimated $50 million to $70 million account last month.
