GMC's 2001-model Envoy will be identified Sept. 21 as the mystery sport-utility vehicle that has appeared since Sept. 17 in a teaser commercial on NBC's Olympic coverage. Lowe
Lintas & Partners Worldwide, New York, created both the teaser and unveiling spot, which will run 11 times during the Olympic broadcasts. The GMC unit of General Motors Corp., Detroit, said it expects to sell more than 50,000 of the new Envoys annually. The SUV, which will replace the more than 30-year-old Jimmy model, is due to go on sale next spring. The truck brand is gathering prospect data via an online Envoy giveaway on NBColympics.com/mystery. The site also will unveil the SUV's identity tomorrow night.
