[detroit] Jean Halliday is joining Advertising Age as Detroit bureau chief, effective today.

Ms. Halliday will cover automotive marketing and Detroit ad agencies and oversee Ad Age's editorial office in Detroit. She joins Ad Age from Adweek, where she has been Detroit bureau chief since October 1994. Ms. Halliday earlier spent eight years at Crain Communications Inc., parent of Ad Age, as a reporter for Crain's Detroit Business. She succeeds Raymond Serafin, who is moving to D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., as editorial manager for DMB&B PR.

"Jean combines a drive for hard news with a sophisticated understanding of marketing and the automotive industry. She'll cement our position as the leading source of auto marketing news and information," said Scott Donaton, executive editor of Ad Age.
