Two West Coast agency presidents are heading east for top marketing jobs at fast-food chains.

Brad Ball, president of Davis, Ball & Colombatto, Los Angeles, joins McDonald's Corp. as senior VP-marketing USA at yearend. Mr. Ball has 23 years experience serving McDonald's West Coast franchisees. Davis Ball has handled McDonald's for 25 years and now serves 15 co-ops.

Mr. Ball will report to Senior VP-Marketing David Green.

His appointment reflects McDonald's desire to strengthen its U.S. team as it battles a tough domestic market. The chain's same-store sales in September were flat, reversing two months of slight declines, according to Prudential Securities analyst Janice Meyer. McDonald's recently bolstered U.S. operations by elevating two executives to assist Edward Rensi, president-CEO of McDonald's USA.

Separately, Hardee's Food Systems, Rocky Mount, N.C., is importing Californian Daniel Ginsberg as exec VP-marketing, a post the chain never filled when Jerry Gramaglia left Hardee's for Taco Bell Corp. early this year.

Mr. Ginsberg leaves his post as president of dGWB, Irvine, Calif., to take over marketing reins at Hardee's.
