Havas advertising registers growth

PARIS--France's Havas Advertising--the holding company for agency networks Euro RSCG Worldwide and Campus, and other communications companies--reported a gross income up 12.2% to $966 million during 1998, compared to the previous year. Net profit after tax was up 36.7% to $64 million. Billings for the world's eighth largest advertising organization were up 12.2% to $6.4 billion.

Euro RSCG Worldwide--agency for such clients as Citroen, Peugeot, Philips and Intel--accounts for 70% of Havas Advertising's income.

In terms of gross income, the U.S. market accounts for 32.5% of group income, France (30.2%), the rest of Europe (30.3%), while Asia Pacific and Latin America each represent 4%. In terms of revenue growth, Latin America leads at 78.2%, the U.S. (11%) and Europe (9.8%). Income in Asia Pacific fell 5.6%.

Havas-Vivendi holds 30% of Havas Advertising.
