The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday gave further indication of the importance of last week's decision overturning Rhode Island's ban on liquor price advertising. In a short order, the court overturned a 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision against Anheuser-Busch's challenge of Baltimore's ban on alcohol ads on outdoor boards. That ban was based mostly on grounds that the court invalidated in last week's Rhode Island decision.
The High Court told the lower court to re-examine its decision in light of last week's ruling. A number of other cities had been contemplating similar bans and Baltimore has also banned tobacco ads. In a second case Monday, the High Court overturned and sent back a decision on a Pennsylvania ban on liquor price advertising.
