Hispanic Awards: Jury includes film director and creatives

The judges for Advertising Age's fifth annual Hispanic Creative Advertising Awards include Gilbert Davila, VP-multicultural marketing at Sears, Roebuck & Co., and Luis Mandoki, a Mexican-born director of TV commercials and films including "24 Hours" and "Message in a Bottle." Mr. Davila also chairs the Association of National Advertisers' Multicultural Marketing Committee.

Three U.S. Hispanic creative directors are on the jury: Sergio Alcocer, VP-creative services at LatinWorks, Austin, Texas; Pablo Buffagni, creative director, Publicis Groupe's Conill Advertising, Torrance, Calif.; and Jose Luis Villa, VP-creative director, Del Rivero Messianu DDB, Coral Gables, Fla., backed by Omnicom Group.

In addition to Mr. Davila, two other marketers will be judges: Cristina Morales-Haltiwanger, Bank of America VP-director of multicultural brand and communications, and Marime Riancho, brand manager at Heineken USA, winner of last year's Best of Show award for a radio campaign called "Traducciones."

Judging will take place in July. Winners will be announced at a gala in Los Angeles on Sept. 13 at a meeting of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies, in the Sept. 15 Ad Age and on a special site on AdAge.com.
