Hispanic, Custom Publishing: AA Group taps Cartagena as biz-development head

Ad Age group has tapped Chiqui Cartagena as business development director, reflecting continued expansion of its custom publishing and Hispanic-market programs.

Ms. Cartagena joins Ad Age Group from Columbia House, the direct marketer of music, DVDs and videos, where she was senior director-Club Musica Latina. Prior to that, she was executive editor of a Spanish-language version of TV Guide.

Ad Age Group sees both her publishing and Spanish-language media experience as an asset, said VP-Publisher Jill Manee.

"The business of custom publishing and our focus on Hispanic marketing have been strengths for Advertising Age for over 20 years," said Ms. Manee. "We are excited about the continued growth in these areas due to ongoing editorial coverage, and the continued sales focus that comes with the addition of Chiqui."

Ms. Cartagena is considered an expert in the Hispanic market. She has run her own company, CX2 Media, which helped Fortune 500 companies looking to break into the Hispanic market, and recently wrote a primer for executives titled "Latino Boom: What Every Business Needs To Know About the U.S. Hispanic Market."
