Hongkong Telecom adds Saatchi, Grey to roster

HONG KONG -- Hongkong Telecom has added two new agencies to its marketing roster. Saatchi & Saatchi has won the Interactive Multimedia Services (IMS) business following a seven-way pitch; the short list included Bates, FCB and Grey China. The business was previously handled by J. Walter Thompson.

The budget has not been disclosed, but Hongkong Telecom is one of the market's largest advertisers. The media account, worth nearly $26 million, was awarded to Zenith Media in early March.

Meanwhile, Grey China made a comeback with its Hong Kong public relations unit. GCI is now the lead agency for corporate communications for Hongkong Telecom, as well its mobile business CSL and three mobile brands - 1010, OneTwoFree and Pacific Link.

Industry estimates put the account at $1 million and the pitch included Bentley Communications (a member of DDB Needham Worldwide & Porter Novelli International) and Burson-Marsteller, both of which continue to work on some projects for Hongkong Telecom.
