Hummer to hear pitches

General Motors Corp.'s new Hummer brand team hears presentations tomorrow for its estimated $35 million account. The four finalists are incumbent Pyro, with Richards Group, both Dallas; McCann-Erickson Worldwide, Troy, Mich.; Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; and upstart Modernista!, Boston, founded earlier this year by two former Volkswagen creatives from Arnold Communications. Two of the shops already handle GM brands: McCann has Buick and Martin has Saab. Brand Manager Marc Hernandez said earlier this summer a decision would come shortly after the pitches. But a spokeswoman said this week the winner will be announced by Nov. 1. Detroit-based GM acquired the rights to Hummer last year.
