(May 15, 2001) -- Time Inc.'s shining light in this a recessionary period, In Style, today gained a president but the magazine's publisher and associate publisher positions remain vacant.

Time Inc. poached Fairchild Publications' Women's Wear Daily media worldwide president, Stephanie George, 44, to helm the newly created position -- a coup for Time Inc. because Fairchild's parent, Conde Nast Publications, recently plucked In Style Publisher Lou Cona and Associate Publisher Hope Hening for those positions at Vanity Fair.

"That little In Style brand is booming business," said People magazine group president Ann Moore. "It deserves its own president."

Ms. George will name a publisher and associate publisher after she begins her new job June 1. Ms. George will report to Ms. Moore. Group Publisher Ann Jackson -- who oversee In Style and oversaw Real Simple, whose title may change -- will continue to report to Ms. Moore as well. Though April, In Style's ad pages were up 9.4%. -- Jon Fine
