Quebec Department of Tourism, Montreal, and the American Automobile Association, Heathrow, Fla., have joined forces to boost winter travel to the province. Radio spots themed "Closer than you think" and created by Cossette Communication-Marketing, Montreal, break this month in Rochester and Garden City, N.Y., and Boston, driving listeners to AAA offices and a sweepstakes offering AAA membership and trips to Quebec's Tremblant Resort. Print ads broke in November issues of magazines and in Northeastern and Midwestern newspapers.

General Growth Management, Minneapolis, the nation's largest manager of regional shopping centers, launched a holiday partnership with Visa USA this month giving free gift wrapping to customers making purchases with Visa cards. The promotion, handled in-house, uses a scratch-off instant win game card offering a broad range of prizes including a $500 shopping spree at each of 60 participating malls.

Miller Brewing Co. is turning its Miller Genuine Draft racing team sponsorship into a venue for all Miller brands. Repainted cars replace the large Miller Genuine Draft logo with one large Miller logo plus smaller logos for specific beers. Miller participates in a cross-section of racing series.

Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., this month launched its third annual "Out of the Box" contest for creative, strategic integrated marketing communications. Sponsored by the Medill School of Journalism, the contest invites entries for marketing campaigns done between Oct. 1, 1994, and Oct. 1, 1995. Entries can be submitted by product, service or retail organizations as well as all types of marketing agencies. Entry fee is $125; the deadline is Feb. 15, 1996.
