Eveready Battery Co. and Walt Disney Co. have formed an alliance making Energizer the official battery of Disney theme parks. Energizer will also sponsor the Star Tours attractions at Disneyland and Disney MGM Studios. The attractions previously had no sponsor.

Buena Vista Home Video on Jan. 10 launches its biggest Valentine's Day promotion ever with eight video titles. "Disney's Valentine Video Shop" is backed by in-store support and a national free standing newspaper insert dropping Feb. 11 to 48 million homes. Included in the promotion is the offer of a $3 rebate with the purchase of any three packages of Procter & Gamble Co.'s Bounty, Charmin, Puffs, Pampers and Pampers Trainers products. The promotion continues through March 20.

Nature Conservancy and Wild Birds Unlimited recently broke a joint Dollars for Nature cause-related marketing program. Customers making tax deductible donations to the conservancy at Wild Birds' 205 U.S. and Canadian stores will receive "bounce-back" coupons for the amount of the donation, redeemable in January on purchases of $35 or more. The Nature Conservancy is running an ad in its magazine, which reaches 800,000 members, and Wild Birds has created in-house direct mail fliers and point-of-purchase collateral. The program runs through yearend.

Gillespie, a full-service marketing and promotions agency based in Princeton, N.J., recently won marketing responsibilities for the new co-branded Visa credit card jointly offered by the Bank of New York and Toys "R" Us. Gillespie's assignment includes launching the card and acquiring new customers through a combination of in-store promotions and direct response tools, plus print advertising.
